Express the beauty of landscape in rich, luscious oil paint. Work step
by step with demos, individual instruction, and critique. Use solvent-free
painting methods. One class evening, to be decided, will be held
outdoors to allow you to experience plein air painting.

Fall Paint-outs
PLEIN AIR PAINTING IN OILS

10-3, locations to be decided
A five-hour outdoor painting experience at a location to be determined.
Includes tips and instruction for oil plein-air painting, paint time, lunch
break, and critique. Depending on group mobility, we may walk up to a half-mile from our vehicles.
$30
per day

you where to mail your check.

WHAT TO BRING:
A HAT, clothing for the weather, sun shirt, sunscreen, insect repellant,
camera, DRINKING WATER, SACK LUNCH.
Your painting essentials packed in the smallest, lightest package you can
figure out. A rolling box would work as well.
SMALL supports (5 x 7, 6 x 8 canvas, or areas taped off on practice canvas)
for 2 or 3 paintings. A sketch book and pencil.
A light easel, tabletop easel, or plastic garbage bag to lay your painting
on. There are easels available designed for portability and outdoor
painting.
Also nice to have: chair, umbrella.
PRIVATE LESSONS
Learn exactly the techniques you want to learn, and watch your progress
fly! Individual beginning watercolor or oil painting lessons in my private studio at
mutually agreeable times. Rates are $30 per hour with a 1 1/2 hour minimum
session ($45).

CONTROLLING WATER (WATERCOLOR)
Private Lesson
Many beginning watercolorists become frustrated with unexpected
results. Controlling water is the key. In this private lesson you
can learn the tricks to controlling water, and get some practice in achieving
the results you want. We'll do practice exercises and make technique
samplers that you can refer back to.
COLOR MIXING (OIL)
Private Lesson
Many beginning oil painters find color mixing a mystifying and frustrating
process. Let me teach you a method of color mixing that will take the
mystery out of color mixing. Learn the process of reading color,
choosing the right pigments, and then mixing the color you want. Then
practice to make the process your own.
